The Voice Gifts of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:1
Spiritual Gifts
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
3 I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will..
27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 — Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
Explanation
These verses are written to the church at Corinth. It was a church that was very troubled and was not doing things according to good order and decency.
If you have read other articles on this website you may have come across an explanation of who and what the church was, but to quickly explain again.
All the churches in the New Testament were churches that consisted of people in total that spoke in tongues. This is what God does, we don’t have choice. It is the only way you, or anyone else knows that they are filled with the Holy Spirit. In that case, it is NOT the gift of tongues. God is not the author of confusion, but sadly, man is.
Some churches have the doctrine that tongues have ceased because they read something that says “tongues shall cease”
1 Corinthians 13:8
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
Tongues
1 Corinthians 14:2
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Interpretation
1 Corinthians 14:5
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh, with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
Prophecy
1 Corinthians 14:3
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
Conclusion
Without first receiving the Holy Spirit, with the accompanying evidence (sign or mark of identification) of speaking in tongues (definitely not the Gift of tongues) you can not experience any of the voice gifts of the Holy Spirit
